Cape & Islands - Memorial Day 2021 - Heading into Summer!

Centerville parade Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. It is also a day that we remember our own deceased relatives and friends. Memorial Day weekend has come to be the (un)official start of the summer season on Cape Cod and the Islands.

Cape Cod Cares For The Troops will sponsor its 17th annual 24 hour "Troops in the Spotlight" observance beginning at 11:30AM on Sunday May 30 at the Kmart Plaza on Route 132 in Hyannis. Traditional Memorial Day events include parades and ceremonies in several towns and villages - please check with local town halls/chambers for information.

The Figawi Race, now in its 50th year, is a well known sailing event between Hyannis and Nantucket, held annually on Memorial Day weekend. Scaled down this year, the race normally includes over 200 vessels with sailors from several states, to kick off the summer boating season.
