Fireworks take place in the town of Mashpee on June 24. The Mashpee event is part of an evening long community picnic with food, entertainment, games and activities for the whole family starting at 5:00PM at Mashpee High School. The fireworks start around 9:00PM but why wait until then - join the fun all evening (rain date is June 25).
The town of Orleans will be launching fireworks over Rock Harbor on Friday July 1; Chatham fireworks over Veterans Field follow on July 2. On July 4th, starting at dusk, fireworks displays will be over land and water in Provincetown, Sandwich, Willow Bend, Falmouth, Edgartown, Nantucket and Plymouth - Grab a spot at the beach, go out on a boat, or find a high roof top deck and view it all! Onset-Wareham will launch a fireworks display in September. Town of Barnstable has also postponed its fireworks display to September due to nesting birds!
Cape Cod parades are true hometown America events with scout troops, decorated kid's bikes, home-made floats pulled by parents, pets, firetrucks, antique cars, local civic groups, and marching bands - and best of all candy throwing! Don't miss the 4th of July parades and otheer family friendly 4th of July events in Bourne, Orleans, Falmouth, Hyannis, Chatham, Sandwich, Provincetown, Edgartown - just to mention a few. For a real nautical flair, "head" to a boat parade in Hyannis Harbor, Shawme Pond in Sandwich, or the Star-Spangled Chatham Boat Parade in Oyster Pond. Lots of local music fills the air outdoors along Main Street during the Downtown Hyannis 4th of July Celeration starting at 2:30PM. Listen to music provided by DJ JT Chronicles during the town of Sandwich's annual 4th of July Picnic in the Park and an evening concert starting at 7:30PM with The Moonlighters at Shawme Pond Bandstand. Cape Symphony will be entertaining the crowds at Hyannis' waterfront Aselton Park with a FREE performance blending pop, Broadway, patriotic, and Americana music. Bring beach chairs or a blanket, a picnic supper, and plenty of bug spray to these outdoor musical events.
Lots more free outdoors concerts this week include Natalia Bonfini Trio taking the stage on June 27 to open the season of Eastham's Monday "Concerts on Windmill Green". The Harwich Town Band opens the 2022 Weekly Summer Concert series on Tuesday June 28; Chatham Band opens their weekly Friday night summer concerts on July 1st! On Tuesday, July 5th Paradise Rock opens the TD Bank Summer Concert Series at Mashpee Community Park, from to 7:30PM. TD Bank also sponsore summer concerts at Brooks Park in Harwich, Kate Gould Park in Chatham, Aseleton Park in Hyannis, and Mike Stacy Park in DennisPort. Pans in Paradise (steel drum band), returns to Rock Harbor Beach at 6:00PM every Wednesday evening, weather permitting. Don't forget the Town Bands of Brewster, Barnstable, and Sandwich too - traditional outdoor summer band concerts, offering an evening of music that includes Broadway tunes, jazz, big band, classical, pop and more! What's more American than baseball? Cape Cod & Martha's Vineyard are summer homes for some of the best baseball players from colleges all over the U.S.A. Cape League has 10 different teams, each with its own park in towns that spread from Wareham to Orleans. There are Cape Cod Baseball League games every day this Holiday week. Martha's Vineyard Sharks will be at home in the Shark Tank for several games over the coming weeks - see their schedule for details!
Looking for a quiet 4th of July? Of course, any day is a good day to spend relaxing at the Cape's wonderful beaches - pack a cooler, your sunscreen, sand toys, a sun umbrella (please purchase a "sandgrabber" at Christmas Tree Shops or Ocean State Job Lot for everyone's safety), some blankets and beach chairs!
