Typical New Year's Resolutions run the gamut from self improvement to worldly intentions. Along with the usual list, eventually discarded without a clear plan of attack - lose weight, exercise more, eat better food, eat out less and cook at home, quit smoking, quit drinking coffee, soda or alcohol, finish associates degree, attend cultural events, get a better job, win the lottery, pay off those credit cards, save money for a big Cape Cod vacation, recycle, conserve energy, volunteer & donate to charities, adopt a pet, pray for world peace...

Ring in the New Year 2014! Cape and Islands
It's not too late to make plans to say good-bye to 2013 and ring in the New Year 2014. Several local restaurants offer celebrations complete with dinner, live music and dancing. Beware, reservations are strongly suggested for those dining out New Years Eve. Looking for something livelier? Cape Cod's biggest family celebration is First Night Chatham, an annual tradition of celebrating the arts in Chatham on New Years Eve.

Happy New Year 2013! Cape and Islands
New Years is a time to reflect
on the past year, and to look forward to the new year. It is believed that New Years was first celebrated over 4000 years ago by the ancient Babylonians, in March to coincide with the spring planting of crops. Perhaps New Years is celebrated in January as a ploy to extend the Christmas Holiday break for school children...
